7/15 - Forfeited Land Sale A Success
On July 13th, the auditor conducted a forfeited land sale that was well attended. Auditor Corlett supervised his staff in the auction of 139 parcels of land, some of those with buildings, for a record $183,000 in total sales.
When property taxes go unpaid the county prosecutor begins a foreclosure action that can result in property being forfeited to the State of Ohio. The county auditor is the agent for the State and he is charged with disposing of the property.
In future auctions, like this one in July, the auditor will notify neighbors adjoining the properties being sold. Also, it will be posted on this website with a list of the properties being offered.
