Auditor’s Office to hold Virtual Homestead Tax Saving Education Session
Jefferson- The Ashtabula County Auditor’s Office announced an online educational session focused on the Homestead Tax Credit in April for interested residents of Ashtabula County.
“This session will be an excellent opportunity to ask questions about the Homestead program, apply for the tax credit, and learn more about your property’s valuation and property taxes,” shared Auditor Thomas.
Taxpayers who are 65 years or older and own their home with an annual adjusted Ohio Gross Income of less than $33,600, are permanently disabled, or are military veterans with a 100% service related permanent disability are encouraged to attend this session to learn more about the program.
The online webinar session will be held on Zoom at 6pm on Wednesday, April 28th and recorded on the Auditor’s website after. Attendees will hear from Kris Paolillo of the Auditor’s Office and can ask questions and review the Homestead application.
“Using the virtual Zoom webinar is a great option for folks who would like to learn how to save money but are not comfortable leaving their homes for group education opportunities,” explained Auditor Thomas. “We have had great success in online sessions for CAUV and BOR, so we are looking forward to educating folks on Homestead too”.
Homestead tax savings for applicants include a reduction equal to $25,000 tax credit on the market value of the home for traditional Homestead and $50,000 for disabled military veterans. The average savings for residents is between $400-$500.
