Auditor Thomas Urges Caution with Uncovered Online Fraud Scheme

Ashtabula County Auditor David Thomas is asking residents to be cautious when making online purchases of licenses sold through the Auditor’s Office. A fraudulent website, www.ohdog-license.com, has been recently uncovered selling fake dog licenses to Ohio residents.

If Ashtabula County residents would like to purchase their dog license online, pet owners are encouraged to make their purchases, and other license agreements, through the official Auditor website.  Any other website impersonating a registrar or license application portal not through the Auditor’s webpage should be reported to the Auditor’s office immediately.

“Purchasing dog licenses has become very easy with in person, community partners, and our website as stress free options for pet owners. But, with anything in the digital age, I urge our residents to be careful online,” said Auditor Thomas. “Please only use our official Auditor website and never hesitate to contact our office with questions or concerns.”

Residents interested in purchasing a license online or at a community partner’s location, can see the full list of options and information here

For more information, or to report suspected fraudulent activity, please contact the Ashtabula County Auditor’s Office at 440-576-3783.
