GIS Education Session
Individuals are encouraged to attend either in person or virtually by zoom webinar on Monday, October 25 at 1pm in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room in the Old Courthouse in Jefferson.
The GIS interface for the public is a framework for gathering, managing, and analyzing data rooted in the science of geography. Maps of data are stored by the Auditor's Office including a host of information for Ashtabula County including location of oil wells, recent sales, wetlands, roads, waterways, topography, homes, and much more.
“Our GIS team is exceptional in their application of data and focus on making the tool more user friendly”, shared Auditor Thomas. “We’re excited to be teaching the public best practices and how they can get the most out of the software.”
Attendees can attend either in person or via zoom webinar. The hour session will include an activity to generate maps, charts, and tables with GIS staff present. Laptops will not be provided.
The Auditor’s office has made several updates to the GIS system in the past year. Most notably has been to add recent sales data for properties across Ashtabula County. They have also updated the user viewer and historical information. Residents that have questions on GIS are always encouraged to call Caroline at the Auditor’s Office at 440-576-1434.
