Historical Property Search Education Session
County Auditor David Thomas to Host 2nd Historical Property Search Education Session
Ashtabula- Ashtabula County Auditor David Thomas announced a second upcoming education session focused on historical research and tools from the Auditor’s Office residents can use. This evening session will be held on Wednesday, September 28th from 6:30pm to 7:30pm at the Ashtabula County District Library or on Zoom Webinar (click here for Zoom registration).
Auditor staff members Heidi Barringer and Deb Mohney along with Real Estate Manager Dennis Huey will walk attendees through the steps of searching the history of residential properties. “Our staff have a wealth of knowledge on historical research that can be very useful for interested residents,” shared Auditor David Thomas. “If you are interested in history and are curious where best to begin, our office can get you started.”
Other topics will include information on where to look up property transfer records, historical tax records, changes in property structures, important dates in the life of a property, where to find other records, examples of successful historical searches, and much more.
While Thomas says that some information is not available from the Auditor’s Office, “we can get you started or point you in the best direction to begin your search.”
RSVPS are encouraged but not required. Please contact Auditor David Thomas for questions at 440-576-3785 or djthomas@ashtabulacounty.us. Respondents will also be asked what specific historical search questions or goals they have so that the session will be best tailored to those in attendance.
