These higher exemption amounts are for applications taken in calendar year 2024 that affect taxes paid in calendar 2025 for real property.
Applications are available on the Auditor’s website, can be mailed out on request, or picked up in the office. Rules and qualifications can be found on the Auditor’s website under Real Estate or please call the office with questions.
Real Estate Manager Scott Yamamoto reminds those that do not currently meet qualifications to check back each year as the qualifying income does change every year. Yamamoto indicated that there are several pieces of legislation pending that may provide additional relief.
“While these pieces of legislation will most likely not pass this year, we anticipate the next General Assembly will introduce similar relief measures,” says Yamamoto who also added “We’re looking forward to working with our legislative delegation in the new General Assembly on some much-needed property tax reform before the next update in 2026.”
