November 2018 Levy Calculator
Many voters will see tax levies on the November election ballot. Before every election the Auditor’s office receives calls from property owners wanting to know how a levy will affect their current tax bill. “I always have the staff geared up for the calls,” said County Auditor Roger Corlett. In addition, the Auditor’s web site will have a new tax levy calculator, which will help taxpayers determine what their will be and if there will be an increase.
Property owners simply need to click the link to the tax levy calculator. “From there the information you enter should be fairly straight forward,” Auditor Corlett explains. “But please call us if you have any question at all.” The calculator will show the increase in taxes from that levy.
“My office does not advise as to the need for a levy or ask voters to vote one way or another”, said Auditor Corlett. “My policy is, however, to make as much information available to the taxpayers as possible, so that they may make an informed decision. While the calculator cannot take into consideration some factors like home value changes in the future, it does give the property owner a very close estimate as to the change in taxes for that property. If you need more specific information, please call my office at (440)576-3445.”
