Many voters will see tax levies on the May election ballot. Before every election the Auditor’s office receives calls from property owners wanting to know how a levy will affect their current tax bill. “You should never be afraid to ask questions of your tax levies or values. Our office is happy to help answer any concerns you may have,” said County Auditor David Thomas.

One tool to help in this process is the customized Levy Calculator tool on the Ashtabula County Auditor’s Website. Property owners simply need to click this link http://auditor.ashtabulacounty.us/dnn/Real-Estate/Levy-Calculator to use the tool.

This tool allows every individual property owner to estimate the tax burden placed on their property from every levy on their specific ballot. “Using our Levy Calculator is also a great way to check on your property value and ensure we have the most updated information for your parcel,” shared Thomas.

The Auditor’s Office role in levies is to take the millage voted on by residents or placed from local entities and assess based on property value and tax district valuation.
