New GIS Hub Features

Our GIS staff has been hard at work updating the public viewing tools and options for GIS on our website. As you may have seen, there are now two options- Parcel Viewer and County GIS Hub.

Here is a brief summary of the current offerings on the GIS Hub:

The Ashtabula County GIS Hub provides access to applications and tools powered by data from the Ashtabula County Auditor’s Office. The Hub will feature Open Data and mapping applications for users to easily download and format to their needs. These features are steered towards title companies, realtors, surveyors, appraisers, small business owners, local government officials, non-profits, and property owners.

Some of the applications include:

·         Print Mail Labels

This application extracts parcel mailing addresses based on a custom drawn shape or a search radius on a specific point location. The results can be downloaded as an Excel spreadsheet or a PDF with a variety of label sizes.

·         Historical Ashtabula County

Take a trip through Ashtabula County’s history by viewing aerial imagery all the way back to 1938! Use the swipe tool to easily compare two different years.

·         Survey Search

Search for the most recent surveys archived with the Ashtabula County Engineer. Select a parcel and download the newest survey (if available) as a PDF document. This tool was created in February 2022 and will be updated twice a year with new surveys.

·         Lite Parcel Map Viewer

A lightweight version of our parcel map viewer that only displays cadastral information.

The Hub also has a “Data Download” page that allows users to search for a specific dataset and either create their own on-the-fly map or download the data as an Excel File, KML (Google Earth file) or Shapefile (GIS software). We currently have four broad categories: boundaries, environmental, land records and transportation.

Caroline will continue to release more applications and datasets throughout the year. If you have any questions on these, definitely reach out to her, lots of capabilities with GIS that she can work with you on. If you have recommendations or tools you would like to see, we would be happy to assist!
